CHALLENGAIR
This dynamic wet-lease operator was founded in 1994 with a fleet of two DC-10-30 aircraft. Challengair had also some own charter operations but mostly the two DC-10s were operated for other European carriers like Air Europe, Corsair and also TAROM which needed a short-time replacement for their A310. A third aircraft (#127 which is well known in South America) supplemented the fleet for a short time. In 1998, Challengair ceased operations after heavy losses and left the field to competitor Skyjet. #267 has since then become a kind of mysterium. It was homeless for more than three years but still active and recently became a freighter.
