DOMINICANA DE AVIACIÓN
(Dominican Republic)

The state carrier of the Dominican Republic has no own airworthy aircraft, but operates scheduled services with short-time leases to several destinations in the Caribbean as well as New York. During its whole history, DC-10 aircraft were operated on at least three occasions: The first was in 1984, when an ex-Northwest DC-10-40 (#53) was leased by Jet Charter Service (Jet 24) for the summer months. The aircraft later went thorugh the hands of different carriers to find its way back home to Northwest Airlines. In the same year, #47 was leased from Arrow Air. The third occasion was in the mid-1990s, when TAESA's #260 was leased for long-range operations. This included also charter flights from Frankfurt to the holiday destinations in the Dominican Republic. In July 1996, #260 was returned to TAESA and now we are waiting for the next DC-10 to fly for this carrier...
